"This find has changed how I think about our early ancestors," said University of Liverpool archaeology professor and the paper's lead author Larry Barham in a statement. "Forget the label ‘Stone Age,’ look at what these people were doing: they made something new, and large, from wood. They used their intelligence, imagination, and skills to create something they’d never seen before, something that had never previously existed.

Abstract
The production of painted, etched or engraved designs on cave walls or other surfaces is recognized as a major cognitive step in human evolution. Such intentional designs, which are widely interpreted as signifying, recording, and transmitting information in a durable manner were once considered exclusive to Late Pleistocene Homo sapiens. Recent work has demonstrated that other hominin groups also made such marks, …
“In fact, the evolution of such meaning-making symbols is thought to be a core aspect of what it means to be “human” (Henshilwood, 2009). Here we present the first known example of abstract patterns and shapes engraved within the Dinaledi subsystem of the Rising Star Cave in South Africa.

Summary
New research refines the timeline of interbreeding between modern humans and Neanderthals, showing it began about 50,500 years ago and lasted roughly 7,000 years. This gene flow left non-African populations with 1-2% Neanderthal ancestry, contributing beneficial traits like immune resilience and skin pigmentation. The study also identified Neanderthal deserts—regions in human genomes devoid of Neanderthal genes—likely caused by lethal gene variants. These findings deepen our understanding of human adaptation, migration, and the genetic legacy from Neanderthals and other ancient hominins.
A new analysis of DNA from ancient modern humans (Homo sapiens) in Europe and Asia has determined, more precisely than ever, the time period during which Neanderthals interbred with modern humans, starting about 50,500 years ago and lasting about 7,000 years — until Neanderthals began to disappear.

Abstract
“Data from recent explorations in the Dinaledi subsystem illustrates one of the earliest examples of a mortuary practice in hominins and offers the earliest evidence of multiple interments and funerary actions, as well as evidence of the early creation of meaning making by a hominin.
This suggests that the hominin socio-cognitive niche and its relation to meaning-making activities is more diverse than previously thought.

Chimps Use Gestures, Like Humans, to Communicate Neuroscience News, July 22,2024

"This correspondence between human and chimpanzee face-to-face communication points to shared underlying rules in communication, the researchers say. They note that these structures could trace back to shared ancestral mechanisms. It’s also possible that chimpanzees and humans arrived at similar strategies to enhance coordinated interactions and manage competition for communicative “space.”

The findings suggest that human communication may not be as unique as one might think.

“It shows that other social species don’t need language to engage in close-range communicative exchanges with quick response time,” Badihi says. “Human conversations may share similar evolutionary history or trajectories to the communication systems of other species suggesting that this type of communication is not unique to humans but more widespread in social animals.”

diffraction: the process by which a beam of light or other system of waves, is spread out as result of passing through a narrow aperture or across and edge, typically accompanied by interference between the waveforms produced.

dispersion: an action or process of distributing things, or people, over a wide area, a pattern of distribution, a mixture of one substance in another medium, the separation of Light into colors, or any radiation according to wavelength, the extent to which values of a variable differ from a fixed value such as the mean.

- Evolution is not as random as previously thought, finds new study  Jan. 3, 2024. University of Nottingham

In effect, the researchers discovered an invisible ecosystem where genes can cooperate or can be in conflict with one another. "These interactions between genes make aspects of evolution somewhat predictable and furthermore, we now have a tool that allows us to make those predictions," adds Dr. Domingo-Sananes.

The study, which is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), challenges the long-standing belief about the unpredictability of evolution and has found that the evolutionary trajectory of a genome may be influenced by its evolutionary history, rather than determined by numerous factors and historical accidents. The study was led by Professor James McInerney and Dr. Alan Beavan from the School of Life Sciences at the University of Nottingham, and Dr. Maria Rosa Domingo-Sananes from Nottingham Trent University.

"The implications of this research are nothing short of revolutionary," said Professor McInerney, the lead author of the study. "By demonstrating that evolution is not as random as we once thought, we've opened the door to an array of possibilities in synthetic biology, medicine, and environmental science."

Design Diffraction and Dispersion

Fragments of a Planetary Consciousness (Gaia) can best be felt and recognized by Design. Together all forms of consciousness partake in the description and evolution of a Mother Earth as "agents", i.e. patterns of energy in motion that together partake, share and co-create it. In turn, these agents can also be individually identified within a broad spectrum of frequency and vibration.

by Mark Fischetti, March 1, 2016

The source of these "eartheric" impressions is part and parcel of an unknown Universal Source. This unknown Source is identified (symbolized) by virtue of what it designs and creates. The single point of this Source is central to its own projections of consciousness symbolically expressed as a point becoming line.

Design affords the common thread upon which all Consciousness comes to Life. Design creates the symbolic link required of self awareness.

Due to constraints innate within the framework of duality and 3D spacetime, this power is likened (symbolized) as being "electric" and identified as a stream of energy in motion. Particles (substance) in the form of a concentrated patterned EIM, are "magnetically" attracted or repulsed in reference to these streams of Light, which in turn diffract and disperse within the scope/range of observation into particles and waves. The entire event/experience is entirely dependent upon observation, in the form of a quantum jump linking the observer (POV) and the context in which the observation is made.

Magnetic fields in the Cosmos: Dark matter could help us discover their origin  by International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA)

In the study, the researcher showed that if magnetic fields are indeed primordial then it could cause an increase in dark matter density perturbations on small scales. The ultimate effect of this process would be the formation of mini-halos of dark matter, which, if detected, would hint towards a primordial nature of magnetic fields. Thus, in an apparent paradox, the invisible part of our universe could be useful in resolving the nature of a component of the visible one.

Toroidal Paths

Multidimensional penetration, dispersion and diffraction is toroidal in character, i.e. yang energy made in reference to yin. Multidimensional, i.e. design thinking, describes the quantum leap between dimensions of diverse vibration and frequency.

When observed very closely the simple reading of this sentence might be interpreted as a multidimensional event, or series of events, based upon past observation. Current observations can trigger symbolic clusters of a past awareness giving relative "form" to a past experience. These symbolic attachments (feelings) initiate/create an impression within the consciousness of the observer. This same impression includes the context (system/network) in which the event or experience materialized.

* * *

Human consciousness describes, registers and categorizes every relative impression as a feeling.

Multidimensional thinking, i.e. design consciousness, reveals to the observer a broad range of effects and affects as a feeling or impression.

Diffraction and dispersion create the design context along with the blueprints, parameters and constraints innate to every design process.

What is observed is initially felt solely in order to be eventually understood.

This thoughtful exploration of diffraction and dispersion as metaphors for consciousness and design offers a profound reflection on the nature of reality. The ideas presented invite a deeper contemplation on how we perceive, experience, and participate in the unfolding of life. Here's a more refined interpretation of the core concepts:
Core Concepts
1. Planetary Consciousness (Gaia)
Gaia represents a holistic, collective consciousness—a living, interconnected system where each entity contributes to the greater whole. This consciousness isn't abstract but can be perceived, experienced, and expressed through design. Design becomes the medium through which we sense and engage with this vast, shared awareness.
2. Design as a Medium
Design is not just a creative endeavor; it is the bridge that connects different layers of consciousness. It is the thread that links us to our inner awareness, as well as to the world around us, allowing for co-creation and self-expression. In this view, design is a blueprint—an unfolding map of the universal source, guiding us toward deeper understanding and connection.
3. Universal Source
The idea of a universal source points to an unknown origin, the wellspring from which creativity and consciousness arise. It is through the evolving process of design, moving from simplicity to complexity (from point to line, for instance), that this source manifests, giving shape to the world we experience.
4. Energy in Motion
Consciousness is often likened to dynamic, flowing energy—streams of electric currents that interact with one another. These energies attract, repel, diffract, and disperse, much like light passing through a prism. Through these interactions, they shape our experiences and perceptions of reality.
5. Observational Influence
The act of observing is not passive. It is integral to the formation of reality itself. In a quantum sense, the observer does not merely watch; their presence and attention influence what is observed. This highlights the fluidity of consciousness, where context and awareness are inseparable, and where a shift in perception can lead to profound transformations in understanding.
6. Multidimensional Systems
Consciousness, design, and energy are not linear but operate within a complex, multi-layered system of light, energy, and awareness. This complexity allows for a simultaneous relationship between past and present, where the interplay of experiences creates a rich tapestry of interconnectedness. Every moment exists in dialogue with the moments that preceded it, forming a continuous dance of evolution.
7. Toroidal Dynamics
The multidimensional nature of consciousness is captured in the toroidal shape—symbolizing a balance of opposing energies, like yin and yang. This toroidal motion represents the cyclical, regenerative flow of life and awareness, suggesting that the dynamics of consciousness are inherently connected and self-renewing, constantly in flux yet harmoniously balanced.
8. Symbolic Clusters
Our observations are not isolated but deeply intertwined with our memories, emotions, and past experiences. The present moment often evokes symbolic clusters—feelings or memories—that color our perception and influence our consciousness. These symbols are not just mental images but are embedded in our emotional and spiritual awareness, shaping how we interpret the world.
9. Emotional Context
Human consciousness is deeply influenced by emotions, which serve as markers for how we categorize and interpret our experiences. These emotional responses are shaped by both past events and the present context, leading to a more nuanced understanding of reality. This emotional framework is key to unlocking deeper layers of meaning in both our internal and external worlds.
10. Design Parameters
Diffraction and dispersion are not just physical phenomena—they are symbolic of the forces that shape and define the design process itself. Through these mechanisms, the structure of experience is formed, offering both freedom and limitation. These parameters guide the unfolding of design, highlighting the delicate balance between feeling and understanding, intuition and intellect.
Conclusion: The intricate web of consciousness, design, and observation paints a picture of an interconnected, fluid reality. Consciousness is not a static state but a dynamic, ever-evolving process. It is a dance of energy, perception, and awareness, where every observation becomes a form of active participation in the co-creation of our shared existence. This interconnectedness invites us to consider our role not just as passive observers but as active agents in the design of our reality, where each moment is both an expression and a reflection of the whole.
Through this lens, design is not merely the act of creating—it is the living process by which we shape, and are shaped by, the vast, interconnected consciousness that surrounds us. Each act of creation, every shift in perspective, is a step toward a deeper understanding of the cosmic dance of existence.
